Shannon's Famous Salsa

Many have asked for it, and here it is: Shannon's Famous Salsa! Ideal for Tex-Mex meals or as a zesty chip companion, this homemade salsa guarantees bold flavor in every bite. Your chips, and tastebuds, will thank you.

How to make it:

Add all ingredients to a food processor bowl or a blender. Pulse until you reach the desired consistency.

You  may eat the salsa right away, but be aware that the flavors and heat will develop as the ingredients have time to meld--generally in the refrigerator.

Note that a lot of the ingredients say "to taste" after them. Make this salsa your own! Adjust it to your family's preferences.


1 can (28 oz) whole Roma Tomatoes with juice

2 cans (10 oz) Rotel (or diced tomatoes with green chilis)

1/2 cup yellow onion, chopped

1-2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed

1/4-1/2 jalapeno, deveined & deseeded and sliced

1-2 tsp salt (to taste)

1/2-1 tsp chili powder (to taste)

1/4 tsp sugar

1/4 tsp cumin

Dash of cayenne pepper

1/4 bunch fresh cilantro (more or less to taste)

2 T lime juice (juice from half a lime)
